For this rotation, I met on zoom with my site evaluator Professor Rachwalski as well as my classmates who were also on their ambulatory medicine or surgery rotations. Professor Rachwalski gave each of us feedback that we could all learn from.
For my first site visit, I presented a patient with a red eye complaint who had likely uveitis. This patient was sent to the ER since he was traveling from abroad and would not be able to get a stat ophthalmology visit any other way. We discussed the concerning symptoms for an eye complaint and how limited resources is often a reason for sending someone to the ER from urgent care.
At my second site visit, I presented a case of a patient who had bilateral leg swelling with unilateral leg pain. We discussed the wide list of differential diagnoses, including the most likely. Just like the patient that I presented at my first visit, we had to send her to the ER due to limited resources.
In conclusion, my site visits with Professor Rachwalski were great learning experiences. He gave useful feedback on my H and Ps and care plans that I will refer back to. I also appreciated hearing the different interesting cases that my classmates presented.
