For this rotation, I met with my site evaluator Professor Melendez on zoom. Professor Melendez took the time to listen to my H and P and article and discussed different aspects of GYN surgical procedures.
For my site visit, I presented a 47-year-old P4004 female patient with history of anemia 2/2 AUB and fibroid uterus. We rounded on her on POD1 when she was s/p laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy with no complications. I presented an article titled “Endometrial resection and ablation versus hysterectomy for heavy menstrual bleeding.” I discussed the various outcomes noted in the systematic review and how they related to my patient. I also submitted 5 drug cards including Labetalol, Pitocin, metformin, ampicillin, and Nexplanon.
I submitted 2 additional H and Ps about a postpartum 15-year-old P1011 female with intrapartum preeclampsia with severe features. My other H and P was about a 40-year-old G3P1011 female presenting for routine prenatal care at the outpatient clinic. I also submitted 5 more drug cards including Ancef, Colace, methotrexate, propofol, and gentamicin.
In conclusion, my site visit with Professor Melendez was a good learning experience. He gave useful feedback on my H and P and care plan that I will refer back to.
